‘the smoke that roams looking for a home, drifts into me’ – Pablo Neruda
A performance staged at Lights Of Soho gallery in London as part of the exhibition Signs That Say What You Want Them To Say curated by Robert Montgomery.
The collaborative performance features one of Guy-Watkins’ installations Alter Piece 5 – This Is Home, in which 100 candles spell out the phrase in the title. It is based around the search for home in the 21st Century.
Is a home a place where we rest our heads – a warm fire, a good book or the embrace of a loved one? What if we have to run from our home in fear of our lives? Why is it so important to have somewhere we can call home? Why must we protect our homes from those in fear? Does that fear stem from the necessity to find a home?
